Is Atlas of Caregiving a nonprofit?

Yes! We are incorporated as a Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation in the state of California, and our federal 501(c)3 status is pending.

Are you part of Family Caregiver Alliance? How are you related?

No, we are an independent organization.
Family Caregiver Alliance (FCA) is a nonprofit based in San Francisco which helped support the 2015 Atlas of Caregiving Pilot Study in 2015. Currently:
– FCA serves as our Fiscal Sponsor, which enables us to accept donations and grants.
– We collaborate with FCA on a regular basis. For example, they have provided guidance with our Atlas CareMap Workshops™.
– Kathleen Kelly, Executive Director of FCA, serves on our Board of Directors.
– Rajiv Mehta our CEO and Founder serves on the FCA Board of Directors.

How are you funded?

We are a nonprofit, so our funding is primarily through donations and grants at this time. In December 2016, we received our initial funding from the Santa Barbara Foundation and AARP.

Do you accept donations?

Yes, and thank you for asking!
If you are an individual and would like to donate, please visit our fiscal sponsor’s donation page. You can donate there online, by phone, or via postal mail. Please make sure to note that the donation is for Atlas of Caregiving so we receive it.
If you are a foundation or other institutional funder, please contact us directly here or email our CEO.

I’m a family caregiver – where can I go for information or support?

There are many terrific resources available to caregivers, but often they are specific to certain regions. Here are three organizations we work with closely which you might use as a starting point:
– Family Caregiver Alliance website has links to many classes and educational materials, a Family Care Navigator which can help you find resources on a state-by-state basis, and the National Center on Caregiving.
– The AARP website has many informative articles, webinars, and helpful tools for family caregivers.
– Visit the Smart Patients Caregiver Community to learn from other caregivers, or for one of their online patient communities to learn from others managing chronic conditions or illnesses.
